Sustainable Home Garden

Is there anything sexier than permaculture?

Today more and more people are aware of the qualities of home grown food. As a college student sometimes it’s hard to find the time to grow or enjoy home grown food.
I am a gardening enthusiast for me the most hardest thing is not having the space or the time to care for the trees regularly. During the winter time it is almost impossible to have garden without having to spend lot of money on equipment.

I have looked into different companies that  make gardening in small spaces easy like Aerogarden most of them cost more than 100 $. One key part of gardening that is missing is the ecological factors. An ecological garden would have a diversity in the garden to support the pollination, insect repellent and to provide other naturally found conditions in the environment.

The outcome of my project is to create a garden bed that is low maintainers, user friendly and multi purpose. I would also provide list of plants that are accessible to everyday user.
This will let the user create his or her own ecological garden with flowers, fruits, vegetables and herbs.

The table will be designed so that you can get plants and have them with the pot that it came with or plant it in the sand box.

The sandbox is designed to have potatoes or any other plant that has a Storage roots system.

One side of side panels can be open when the harvest time comes. That will make it easy for the user to get hold of the harvest easily without having to dig from the top.

There will be a water reservoir that could contain fish or plants like lilies. This will act as the water holding for the trees. There will be a set amount of water always in a internal water tank that will plant the trees using a two taps, The taps could be fixed to have a pipe that will be running near the roots of the plants, that will cut down on the watering time for the user. The taps could be configured to different settings so the watering could be configured according to plants need. Since the water is not coming directly from the tap and will contain nutritions from the lily plant or the fish it would be better for the plants living from that water.

The black color is so that the inside of the garden beds holds more heat so that the plants will have a better chance during the winter. And during the winter the garden bed could be turned into a table by simply putting a acrylic sheet on top of it. Using the holes in the side of the table you can create arcs that will support plants like tomatoes or grapes or even could be converted into a cover to protect the plants from wind.

By selecting the full range of plants (flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruits) the user can have a high ecological garden that would look good and user friendly.

The design of the table is just a idea how a garden bed could be built into a ecological and low maintenance garden. But using things that are available from shops like home depot, ikea the user can buy things like kitchen carts, tables, wall shelves the user can create his or her own ecological garden by following the guidelines that will be provided.
